50 years ago, my wife and I designed the layout for our own single-storey house, and asked Colts to build it for us.   It has proved to be an enormous success – comfortable, warm and low maintenance.   There is little I would change if making that choice today.   However, I recently decided to convert two of the four bedrooms into a self-contained annexe for use by a live-in carer, or perhaps for an elderly relative or young adult later on.

Colt Houses – celebrating its centenary this year – still had my original house plans, so the design and conversion could hardly have been easier.   Add to that, the experience, sympathetic advice, good taste and superb workmanship of Martin Ross and his efficient, tidy and courteous staff (including the office), and it becomes difficult to imagine a more pleasing outcome.
