Adding extra insulation

April 24, 2015

Earlier Colt buildings were supplied without the need for insulation.  This can be easily added, either externally or internally, by removing the cedar boarding/shingles or the internal fibreboard lining using Kingspan or Celotex closed cell insulation.  New cedar cladding or plasterboard is then put back on completion.  Dependent on the distance, Colts will be happy to provide a quotation for this service.

Where an external wall is re-rendered, re-clad, re-plastered or re-lined internally, or where 25% or more of the external leaf of a wall is rebuilt, Building Regulations would normally apply and the thermal element of the wall would normally have to be improved. Before commencing on adding insulation or making any changes to the exterior of your building, you should check with your Local Authority Building Control.
